Ski mittens: when shape has a reason

Posted in

“There’s something very precise about the moment you put on a mitten. Your fingers find each other, your hand warms up, and everything else disappears. It’s a simple gesture, but when the glove is made with care, it becomes something special. Almost a ritual.”
Raffaella Restelli

There’s a reason the mitten exists. It’s not nostalgia, it’s not fashion — it’s physics. Keeping your fingers together retains body heat far better than any individual finger can, no matter how well insulated. It’s the same logic as clenching your fist when it’s very cold. The mitten does it for you, all day long.
At Restelli, we have always known this. Crafting artisan ski mittens means starting from this understanding, and building everything else from there: the choice of leather, the lining, the technical membrane, the details that appear decorative but in fact solve very specific problems.
This conviction is what gave rise to the art. 270 family: artisan ski mittens designed for those who refuse to choose between warmth and beauty. Presented below are two models with much in common — a lining in opossum fur, a waterproof and breathable Hipora® membrane, entirely Italian craftsmanship — that differ in their outer leather and colour, two variables that profoundly change the character of the glove without touching what truly matters: the quality of what you cannot see.

Nappa, opossum and membrane: the art. 270/O

The art. 270/O is an artisan ski mitten in nappa leather, lined with opossum fur and fitted with a waterproof and breathable Hipora® membrane. Nappa has a soft, subtly lustrous texture that moulds naturally to the hand. The elasticated wrist seals out the cold, the side zip with logo pull makes it easy to slip on even with cold hands, and the fur-trimmed edge completes the silhouette with a detail that is as functional as it is refined. We offer it in two very different colours, each reflecting a distinct approach to dressing for the snow. Azalea is a bold, feminine tone — confident without being obvious. White is quieter and cleaner, able to sit alongside any winter outfit without ever overpowering it. In both cases, the construction is identical. Only the character changes.

Deerskin: the art. 270/CO

Same construction, different leather: the art. 270/CO in deerskin has a naturally matte, velvety surface, denser than nappa, with a character that is immediately recognisable. The elasticated wrist, the side zip with logo pull and the fur-trimmed edge are all the same — what changes is what you feel on your hand and what the world sees from the outside. The colours here make a different kind of statement. Bordeaux is deep and authoritative — the kind of tone that needs no explanation. Orange is its opposite: energetic and direct, made for those who want their mitten to be seen from a distance and who consider style an integral part of the experience on the slopes.

Four colours, one idea

underlying idea. Whether you choose nappa or deerskin, the colour that feels like yours or the one that surprises you, you will always find the same care in the construction and the same attention to every detail.
